Kentucky

I have been in Kentucky. I wasn't there for the Derby. I wasn't there for the storm. And despite what my children thought, I wasn't there for fun. I rushed there to possibly say goodbye to my precious Kelly. After a terrifying call full of tears and fear, I was on a plane. I have never been on such an emotional roller coaster.  From the initial call that Kelly was in complete liver failure to seeing Kelly and her feeling a bit better to Kelly being told that there was nothing the Dr's could would do to help her to her other Dr. in Louisville saying he wanted her transfered immediately and then finally to her making strides in the right direction. And through it all Kelly's beautiful family; Mother, Father, Sister and her husband Michael and little one Maddie, Mother and Father in Law, Matt and Ari being so strong, so supportive.  See... roller coaster. I'm getting sea sick just reading it. I thank God it has all taken the turn that it has taken. And what started as the most horrible trip of my life ended with my leaving full of hope. Hope. As you may have noticed the theme for this month is the same as last. Kelly requested that. I fully concur. We continue to hope that all will continue in the direction it is going now. Kelly is still in the hospital, but each day things get a bit better. Sodium levels are up. Bilirubin seems to be peaking, soon to be dropping. They hope to release her soon. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Kelly derives such strength from knowing you all are out there pulling for her. Me, too.

  2. Oh Kandyce. The rollercoaster that no one wants to ride. I am glad that there is some hope. All the support that is flowing must buoy Kelly up in the best way it can. I wish you all strength in the storm that you are battered with. Be well.
    Peace

  3. Thank you for sharing this update. Though I only really know her through this space, she has been on my mind each day and in every prayer, every 11:11/eyelash/dandelion/evening star wish I make throughout the day. I keep coming across images of starfish, a sign of regeneration which is my prayer for her liver. Please let the readers know if there is anything we can do to help. Oceans of hope and love and prayers for all of you.

  4. I am so glad that Kelly is doing better. I know once she is home she is going to flourish just like the beautiful flowers of springtime. Kelly, you are in my thoughts all the time!

  6. Kandyce: thank you so much for being there with her, with them. Those of us who can't go, who know it would be an intrusion rather than help, not what she needs, are so thankful that those of you who also love her, who can help, were there with her, loving her close range when we could only do so from afar.

  7. Thank you for being there for Kelly, for me,
for all of us. And it was great on a positive note having our kids around us to keep us hopeful.
You are the most wonderful friend
and we certainly consider you family. I too remain hopeful
that Kelly will recover. My "sissy" as we call each other is
    strong and courageous.

  8. For days all of you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Kelly from the beginning of this journey has done nothing but inspire hope and has taught all of us the meaning of this incredible, magical word. What great happiness it brings me to hear that she has made such progress. Big hugs to you and all those around her.
